Day 9

Primary day was extremely hectic. We did numerous canvassing turfs. In fact, they had us canvassing until the polls closed. All in all, it was worth it because of the victory for the Bernie campaign.

Day 8

It's the day before the primary and we found ourselves front row at a Bernie rally! I seriously cannot describe this experience. Here is a bunch of photos and videos from the event. Also, we were low key featured on his official instagram account. After the event we spent the majority of the day canvassing.

Day 6 and Day 7

On Saturday morning we met with Professor Dante Scala, author of Stormy Weather. We had a really engaging discussion about the primary and his framework for the election. After getting my book signed, we went to the office where we phone banked for most of the day.

On (Super Bowl) Sunday, we went to a Jeb! Town Hall. Then we spent most of the day canvassing. However, we had to stop because we figured it wouldn't do much good to interrupt a Super Bowl party with campaign questions.

Day 5

Today was exhausting! We spent the entire day volunteering with the NHDP at the McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Celebration Dinner. We got to assign seating, set programs, and scope out the arena before all of the chaos. When we returned from lunch, we were told to escort VIPs to their tables. Afterwards, we had the chance to sit and watch the event from a reserved table in the back. It was fantastic!
This is me standing at the podium early in the morning before everything was set up.

I got credentials!

The Bernie side of the arena!

This was my first time seeing Bernie speak!

I saw Hillary speak again too!

Day 4

Today we went to the New Hampshire State House and I fell in love! This state is truly people run, the way government was intended by our founding fathers. The House of Representatives is composed of 400 members, the largest in the U.S. Each Representative also receives a constitutionally mandated salary of $100. I had the opportunity to meet the Secretary of State, A State Representative, and an Executive Councilor.
Our class was introduced by the Senate during their session as well as during the Governor's State of the State Address during the joint session. This comprised of the House, Senate, and Judiciary.

After the excitement at the State House we proceeded to a Donald Trump rally. One of our classmates is working on the campaign so we got VIP seating here as well.
I was worried beforehand but the event surprised me. Before the event, an automated message played informing the crowd that if members of the crowd started to protest we were to single them out for security to remove. To do this we would hold "Trump" signs over our heads and chant "Trump" until the protestor was removed. Luckily this scenario didn't occur but I was a little uncomfortable with the mob mentality set on us. When Mr. Trump finally appeared he was met with a lot of applause despite it being a small rally.
In terms of content, the message was vague and not nearly as offensive as the media had portrayed of previous rally's. It is worth noting that Mr. Trump used a lot of profanity. After the rally, Mr. Trump ran by to sign posters and take selfies.
While not my usual cup of tea, I'm glad I had this experience.

Day 3

Today we went to a Marco Rubio Town Hall. It was very down to earth and personal unlike the rally. It was a little strange that I had to travel all the way to New Hampshire to meet my congressman but I'm glad I did!
We got reserved seating too!
After the Town Hall we went to work for Bernie, in the Manchester office. We had a great time phone banking and talking to press. I even got to train a new volunteer and we had a blast making calls.

Day 2

Today we went to a Hillary Clinton rally. It took 3 hours for us to see her! It was a really cool experience to be at a rally, especially with the energy in the room. Everyone was charged from the win in Iowa the night before. It was truly exciting.

In terms of Bernie, he performed better than expected in Iowa. The caucus results were nearly tied for a majority of the night with Hillary winning by a thin margin. In fact several precincts had to be decided by coin flip (6 in total) and Hillary won all of the coin flips. I'm excited to see how the game changes in NH for Bernie.

We were only able to be at the Bernie campaign for 3 hours today but we phone banked the entire time.
